GDPT : The day of my ceremony entrance

Yesterday, Saturday the 6th of November 2010, was the day of my ceremony entrance to the Buddhist vietnamese family group I belong for more than one year now.

GDPT stands for Gia đình Phật tử, which means the young buddhist family. It exists for more than 70 years in Vietnam, there are many groups around the world and each group belongs to a pagoda. I belong to the one in the town I live. Most of the members are young people but there is no age limitation. The purpose of GDPT is to educate young (originally vietnamese) people for their future active and social life, thanks to the Buddha teaching.

The symbol is a white lotus flower in a green background.
So why the ceremony happens only today ? Because it tooks some time to prepare one ceremony and it is best to do that for several people at the same time. Moreover, rules are this ceremony is reserved to people belonging to the group for 3 months, at least.

For one year, I have observed and participated to the GDPT activities. Since it fits what I "spiritually" search and have a good feeling, I have decided to participate at the ceremony in order to seal my engagement.

Yesterday was also the 17th anniversary of the GDPT of my town. Events of that kind are all unique and the time each of the group members shares to other people is a treasure we all keep in the deepest of our heart. Really, this is what I was feeling, what I feel and what I will feel (I hope so). Many photos and videos were taken in order to immortalize this event. I will not show them here, sorry.
This day, we present what our GDPT is doing and its activities to all members's parents. Some of them already belong to the group. All events should be a happy moment to all people and, for my part, I was dancing and disguised as a girl dancer. I was not the only one, of course (thankfully, lol). Though, it was really funny, of course. I may show you photos of myself (;D) ... but only of myself.
